Janet McFadden, a radiology technologist at Mercy Hospital, was searching her social media a month ago when she noticed that a jewelry store located in Florida was asking for nominations for nurse heroes to receive a special “hero” bracelet.

She jumped right on it and nominated a nurse from Catholic Health’s St. Joseph COVID-19 Facility who in turn received one of the 200 bracelets the store gave away. She said it made the nurse so happy that she wondered if the idea could be replicated locally.

She then messaged Graeber Jewelers in West Seneca with her idea. A week or so went by and to her surprise the store responded with some great news. The store was able to partner with Southtowns Dental in Lackawanna, NY to donate 100 “We Are Kind” bracelets to the brave healthcare workers at Mercy Hospital.

Representatives from Graeber Jewelers and Southtowns Dental presented the donation to Janet McFadden, Chief Nursing Officer Shari McDonald, and a few of our healthcare heroes!
