Catholic Health to Consolidate Services from OLV Family Care Center to Mercy Comprehensive Care Center

Feb 9, 2022News & PR, Press Releases

In an effort to provide patients with high quality care and expanded services in a more sustainable healthcare model, Catholic Health will be consolidating services and staff from OLV Family Care Center at 227 Ridge Rd. in Lackawanna into the Mercy Comprehensive Care Center (MCCC) at 397 Louisiana St. in Buffalo on February 18, 2022. A department of Sisters of Charity Hospital, OLV Family Care Center provides family medicine and pediatric services to about 3,800 patients. OLV Family Care Center patients are being notified of the consolidation plans.

Moving to Mercy Comprehensive Care Center

As Catholic Health’s largest primary care center serving 11,000 patients annually, MCCC is a central medical hub offering a variety of services, including adult and pediatric primary care; obstetric care; orthopedic care; podiatry services; nutrition counseling; social work services; radiology services, including mammography and ultrasono-graphy; and laboratory collection services.

”At Catholic Health, we believe all patients deserve to receive the highest quality care in modern, well-equipped medical facilities,” said Laurie Merletti, President of Physician Enterprise for Catholic Health. “With the increasing financial and staffing challenges affecting all healthcare providers, and the added difficulty of maintaining an aging facility, we decided it was time to consolidate OLV Family Care into a clinical setting that matches the high quality care we offer and enables us to provide these important services long term.”

MCCC is located in Buffalo’s First Ward neighborhood, about four miles from the OLV Family Care Center. Opened in 2006 and expanded in 2011, MCCC features a spacious waiting/reception area, 40 modern exam rooms, on-site laboratory and radiology services, and ample off-street parking. It is located on the number 14, 16, 18 and 101 Metro Bus routes with transfers from locations throughout Lackawanna.

The Same Staff You Know and Trust

All OLV Family Care’s physicians and staff will be moving to MCCC, so patients can expect to see many of the caregivers they have come to know and trust. “Our top priority is to make this a seamless transition for our patients as we welcome them to the Mercy Comprehensive Care Center,” Merletti continued. “Equally important, we want to ensure the continuation of high quality primary care, specialty care, and diagnostic services for individuals and families throughout the Lackawanna community.”

In addition to accepting new patients, MCCC also accepts most insurances. Adult and pediatric primary care services are available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM. Specialty services vary by day and time. For more information, call (716) 847-6610 or visit chsbuffalo.org/MCCC.

Catholic Health will begin exploring opportunities for the OLV Family Care Center building when it becomes vacant.
