Catholic Health Names David Macholz Chief Financial Officer

Catholic Health is pleased to announce that David Macholz has been named Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He succeeds James Dunlop, who left the organization in December 2019 following a 24-year career with the health system. Macholz has been with Catholic Health for more than 20 years, most recently serving as Vice President Finance/Corporate Controller.

“This appointment recognizes Dave’s financial management experience and in-depth understanding of our financial operations,” said Catholic Health President & CEO Mark Sullivan. “His knowledge of the complex nature of healthcare finance, along with his role in helping our system build a strong balance sheet, will be a tremendous asset as we prepare to launch a new financial management platform as part of our Epic Electronic Health Record implementation.”

Meet David Macholz

Macholz joined Catholic Health in 1997 as Accounting Manager and brings to his new role a broad range of financial management experience in the areas of Strategy/Business Development, Treasury Management, Operational Transformation/Improvement, and Systems Development. He held several Director and Senior Director positions during his tenure at Catholic Health, including Director of Cost Accounting, Director of Decision Support & Budget, and Senior Director of Finance, before being named Vice President of Finance/Corporate Controller in 2008.

Macholz received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from SUNY Geneseo and his Masters in Business Administration from the University at Buffalo. He also completed the Harvard Business School Executive Leadership Program. As CFO, Macholz will provide administrative oversight over Catholic Health’s system-wide Finance Department. He will also oversee the System’s Revenue Management, Health Information and Supply Chain Management Departments.
