A few years ago, I was diagnosed with colon cancer, and required surgery. After my surgery, I needed a continuous infusion of chemotherapy by pump that involved about 48 hours of operation. A team of nurses and staff provided through Catholic Health helped me to remain in my home in Lockport for the chemo treatments.

Each nurse took the time to understand my needs and make sure I was comfortable. Not only were they caring and compassionate, they were skilled on the technical aspects of the treatment, giving me tips on how to deal with the chemo and keeping me informed. Catholic Health has long been a part of our community here in Lockport, and soon Lockport Memorial Hospital – a campus of Mount St. Mary’s Hospital – will bring this exceptional care to even more neighbors in need.

Our new neighborhood hospital will be an anchor, supporting the health and wellness of more than 80,000 residents of Eastern Niagara County. Designed to meet our needs efficiently and in a timely manner, Lockport Memorial Hospital will be complete with a full-service emergency department, in-patient beds, and services such as a pharmacy, lab testing, and diagnostic imaging. We will have advanced telemedicine capabilities, enabling specialists from throughout Catholic Health to interface with doctors and patients right here in Lockport, without the need for travel. The future of healthcare is at Lockport Memorial Hospital.

Please consider making a gift to Mount St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation to support the Lockport Memorial Hospital. Your gift will impact on the future of healthcare in Eastern Niagara County by supporting our skilled doctors, nurses, and caregivers to directly benefit patients across our area. To donate, please visit their website at CHSBuffalo.org/Foundations, to make your secure donation online. Any and every contribution will help and is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Kenneth Urtel
