McAuley Residence, a long-term care facility of Catholic Health, located behind Kenmore Mercy Hospital at 1503 Military Rd. in Kenmore, will be hosting a Halloween Open House from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 26.

Area children dressed and pets, in costumes are invited to visit the facility for indoor “trick or treating” on the various floors and nursing units. Residents and staff will be distributing candy as the children make their way throughout the facility. This year there will also be a magician from 6:15 – 7:15 p.m.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to participate in the simple pleasure of giving out candy to area children during the Halloween season,” said Theresa Cavanagh, activities director at McAuley Residence. “It also gives the children and their parents a chance to visit with many of our residents, creating a real opportunity for some special multi-generational interaction.”

Children and families from throughout the surrounding community are welcome to attend the Halloween Open House at McAuley Residence. Shot records must be brought for all pets attending with their handlers.

“Halloween is a special time of the year – not only for the young, but for the ‘young at heart’ as well,” Cavanagh continued. “Our residents really enjoy seeing the children dressed in their Halloween costumes. It really brightens their day to be able to bring a smile to a child’s face.”
