Following the birth of a child, it’s common for mothers to experience mood swings, anxiety, sadness or irritability. New moms may even experience trouble sleeping or a reduced appetite. These symptoms are often referred to as the ‘baby blues’.
Postpartum depression is often associated with the baby blues, but your symptoms are typically more intense and last longer. Symptoms usually develop within the first few weeks after giving birth, but they may begin later, up to six months after.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, we invite you to attend our monthly support group.
Postpartum Support Group Meetings
We meet monthly to help mothers with postpartum depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and panic disorder. These meetings are free to attend and held every fourth Thursday, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Piver Center.
If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact our Program Coordinator, Amy Creamer at (716) 862-1678.
