Statement Regarding National Shortage of Medical and Pharmaceutical Supplies
The natural disasters that devastated large parts Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic last fall have created a critical shortage of several medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, affecting hospitals throughout the region and across the country. As soon as the full impact of the disaster had been assessed, Catholic Health began to take prudent measures to ensure continued safe and effective patient care.
Catholic Health’s Purchasing team is working closely with our suppliers to obtain supplies as they become available, while our pharmacy, medical staff and patient care services teams work to ensure appropriate conservation of affected supplies and monitor supply levels. As a result of these coordinated efforts that began last fall and have continued since, patient care within Catholic Health has not been impacted.
