Due to New York State directives to limit public gatherings to contain the spread of the Coronavirus, Catholic Health will be providing at-home learning and online childbirth education classes for the foreseeable future. Expectant parents will receive a textbook with all the materials covered during the in-person classes. The textbook includes online resources and videos to prepare expectant parents for labor and delivery. The online classes will be followed by scheduled call-in opportunities to speak live with a childbirth educator. During this unprecedented situation, Catholic Health will continue to ensure the needs of expectant parents are meet throughout their childbirth experience. For more information, call Catholic Health’s HealthConnection at (716) 447-6205.
Preparing to Breastfeed Classes
A lactation consultant will review common questions and concerns regarding the first weeks of breastfeeding. A good start makes the first few weeks much easier, so come and prepare with our expert instructors. Both parents are welcome or feel free to come with a friend!
Total class time: 2 hours.
Return to Work While Breastfeeding
Once breastfeeding a newborn is working well, often it is time to go back to work or school. Our “Return to Work” class has helpful information about expressing (pumping) breast milk, storing milk, and feeding babies using mother’s milk. This class is right before our Baby Café meets at Sisters hospital, so please feel free to stay and visit more with our lactation consultants and other new parents!
HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE
Catholic Health hospitals are able to bill your insurance company for many of the classes we provide. Most* insurers, including Medicaid, cover the cost of almost all of our programs. Please contact your insurance provider to verify what coverage they offer.
*PLEASE NOTE: Catholic Health is non-par with United Healthcare Medicaid, Essential, and dual plans. If you are a member of one of these plans, please check the “do not authorize” option and sign where indicated on the class registration form.
In the event that your insurance does not cover all of the cost, you may receive a bill for the outstanding amount. If costs are an issue, please call (716) 601-3600 for additional assistance and payment options
