Buffalo, NY – Mercy Hospital of Buffalo has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list as a “High Performing Hospital,” which is the highest award a hospital can earn in maternity care.

“This national recognition signals to our patients and community that they are receiving some of the highest rated maternity care in the nation,” said Mercy Hospital President Marty Boryszak. “We’re extremely proud of our physicians, nurses, and support staff who continue to shine every day and whose dedication to our patients has helped us earn this distinguished achievement.”

U.S. News evaluated nearly 680 hospitals that provide labor and delivery services and submit detailed data to the publication for analysis. Of those, 311 hospitals received the high performing designation. The Best Hospitals for Maternity Care methodology is based entirely on objective measures of quality, such as C-section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, newborn complication rates, breastfeeding rates, early elective delivery rates, routine vaginal birth after cesarean delivery rates, and episiotomy rates, among others.

The rankings are produced by U.S. News with RTI International, a leading research organization based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
