Like many one-year-old girls, our daughter can be a little stubborn. But she was that way even before she was born.

My daughter was more than a week past her due date when the decision was made to induce labor at Sisters Hospital. As treatment began, my husband and I waited for what seemed like ages, but the baby wouldn’t budge. She was perfectly healthy, but we were in labor and delivery for nearly three days! The doctors were so patient and caring the whole time and empowered me to decide whether I wanted to keep going. Ultimately, our stubborn little girl won, and it was necessary to deliver by c-section.

Needless to say, three days in delivery and three days in recovery made for a stressful time. We are so grateful that everyone on the labor and delivery team was amazing. Dr. Emily Williams delivered the baby and was so compassionate. And all the nurses were wonderful throughout our stay. Sigrid was there during inducement and c-section. Erin helped with different movements to try to position the baby and was so encouraging, even at 2 am! Terri, a night nurse, was so motherly, and gave the biggest hugs. All three came to visit me in the post-partum unit. That is really what stood out. They took the time from their busy, hectic jobs to check up on us. This is why we want to recognize the entire team at Sisters of Charity Hospital.
